Amazon Fire Phone

Amazon announced the Kindle Fire, and with a launch scheduled for the 15th of November. The brand-new Kindle really is rather small compared to past versions, and the company isn’t kidding when it calls the thing pocket-sized — it slips quite nicely into a pant pocket. And The Kindle is $79 with ads and $109 without — a steal compared to the $139 launch price of the Kindle 3 and Nook WiFi. Seems really attractive, even android tablet PC fans. But, what we should think before the purchase? does this brand-new and cheap device have any disadvantages? Let’s check!

1, Kindle Fire doesn’t have microSD slot that, lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you???ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. for example, Nook Color has actually thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a “dumb terminal” of the past to make sure you’re tied up to Amazon’s storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: “Free cloud storage for all Amazon content”. Get it, Amazon content?

2, The Kindle’s lack of a touchscreen isn’t a particular nuisance until it comes time to type. Clicking the keyboard button on the button bezel will bring up a virtual QWERTY. In this bare-bones model, typing means cycling through the letters using the navigation pad, which can be a pain when searching for books in the store. For anyone who plans on doing some serious typing on the thing — though we’re not entirely sure why someone would certainly — it could be worth the extra $20 to upgrade to the Touch.

3, Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has actually and Nook Color is getting thus again you’re stuck with Amazon content only. And Amazon confirmed that you cannot download anything to Kindle Fire when traveling abroad. It’s not like android tablets can offer many free apps on Android Market around the world.

4, The stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 8 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. You can only imaging how much less Kindle Fire battery will last if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi. And Amazon can spy on your web activity through their brand-new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire, do you think it’s safe enough?

5, Kindle doesn’t support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.

As an android fan, actually, i think there’re many decent China tablet PC among the market with both good price and excellent performance. So, i recommend you guys to do some research and surely you can find a good tablet which can perfectly meet your needs, or maybe you can wait for a couple of weeks as Nook Color 2 is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble – maybe it’s a good choice.
